1-1-11

Just wanted to write that date somewhere, on this, unseasonably warm, New Years Day.

Okay, so now we have a new and shiny year in front of us … like a huge, white sheet of paper … just waiting to be filled … with good stuff!

Now that I’ve reached the mature age that I am, I know how quickly a year goes by. When I was a teenager, a year seemed like an immense amount of time — an eternity.

I kept procrastinating — for example, I was meaning to go back to school as an adult student — only to wake up and realize it was too late.

So yes … the future is beginning to feel more finite. If there is something I really want to do, I’ll try and make sure to do it right away.

Today and tomorrow, everything is closed here and I don’t know yet what we’ll do today. I’m still not finished with my morning coffee. We’ve watched a great deal of junior hockey — Sweden beat Canada yesterday, so I got to hear our national anthem! That’s kind of moving, when you’re no longer there … to hear the young lads singing on top of their lungs, and see our flag go up. Today there’s a pause in the hockey tournament.

Now, as I’m typing up this post, I’m using FireFox browser for the first time in a long time. I’m having some issues with the compose mode here in WordPress … the browser keeps freezing up when I’m typing, so I’m trying to figure out if it’s a browser issue or what. It happens both in Chrome and IE9. FireFox used to be a lean, fast browser, but after using Chrome for all this time, it feels …. bloated. Either way, I’ve written for several minutes now, and so far … so good. It hasn’t frozen, but I just got some pop-up box from it. It was some type of warning that said that the default manager was known to cause instability?! I really should have taken a screenshot of it…

UPDATE: Think I’ve sorted out my issue with the compose window. When I disabled visual editor the problem was no more. Yay!

  1. I love this duck photo — beautiful combination of sharp and blur, it looks like angel wings!
I've just moved from Firefox to Chrome, so I know what you mean about the speed. Hope the "instability" issue gets sorted out.
It's never to late to go back to school, besides, when you get older, the prices get much cheaper!
    Happy New Year!

    1. Thank you 🙂
This issue, about the freezing window in compose, is apparently quite common … I checked out the support forum in WordPress.

I'll give it some serious thought … the studies, that is..

  2. You should have SEEN the lads singing!!! What joyous faces!!! And there were really singing loud!!! I was singing softly. Did not want to scare the dog. Du gamla du fria stirs many of us Swedes in my town also. It means a lot to us.

  3. Hi Rebekah, I wanted to stop by to thank you for stopping by my blog today. Or rather, for Kattsby stopping by. He sounds like quite the wonderful cat, and I can't wait to see pictures of him. I have been doing some exploration of your blog, and will do more. Maybe you already have some pictures up.

I did notice all the traveling you have done, and all of the places you have lived. That must have given you many wonderful experiences. I, on the other hand, live in the same house I grew up in. My Grandfather bought it in the 1920's, and it has seen three generations of our family. It's a different style of life from that most people live today, but it has suited me.

Looking forward to getting to know you, and Kattsby, better.

  4. Unquestionably believe that which you stated.
Your favorite justification seemed to be on the net the simplest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I certainly get irked while people
think about worries that they just do not know about. You managed to
hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the
whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal.
Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
